What NetScanner tells you

Every website lives on a computer (a “server”) that sits somewhere in the world and is run by a company. NetScanner shows you in seconds what is behind a website, in plain language and without any technical knowledge:

  • Location: Which country is the website’s server in? With a map.
  • Hosted by: Which company runs the server, for example GoDaddy, Bluehost, Amazon, Google, Hostpoint or Infomaniak?
  • IP address: The server’s “street address” on the internet.
  • Built with: Which system was used to create the website (e.g. WordPress, Shopify, Wix or Webflow) and which services it uses, such as Google Analytics or a cookie banner. With logos, so you can recognize everything at a glance.
  • At a glance: Is the connection encrypted? How long has the domain existed? Is email protection set up? How fast does the website respond?

If you want to dig deeper, “Technical details for pros” shows you all DNS records, registration data and security settings.

Frequently asked questions

Is NetScanner free?

Yes, completely. You don't need an account or a subscription. Just enter a website address and click "Check".

What do I need to enter?

Just the website address, the way you type it into your browser, for example amazon.com or www.my-company.com. You can also copy the address straight from your browser: we remove "https://" and everything after the slash automatically.

How do I find out where a website is hosted?

Enter the address above. Under "Location" you see the country, and under "Hosted by" the company that runs the server, for example GoDaddy, Bluehost, Amazon, Cloudflare, Hostpoint or Infomaniak.

Why does the location show a different country than I expected?

Many websites use a protection and speed service such as Cloudflare. In that case you see that service's location, because the actual server is hidden behind it. NetScanner lets you know when this is the case.

Does NetScanner store which websites I check?

No. We don't store what you enter, and we don't pass it on to Google Analytics.
