What NetScanner detects
Websites are rarely coded from scratch. Usually there is a well-known system behind them, plus services for analytics, advertising or payments. NetScanner recognizes around 80 of them and shows them with their logos:
- Website systems (CMS): WordPress, TYPO3, Joomla, Drupal, Contao, Ghost
- Website builders: Wix, Jimdo, Squarespace, Webflow, Framer
- Online stores: Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, Shopware, PrestaShop
- Visitor analytics: Google Analytics, Matomo, Plausible, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity
- Advertising and marketing: Meta Pixel (Facebook), LinkedIn, TikTok, HubSpot, Mailchimp
- Cookie banners: Cookiebot, OneTrust, Usercentrics, Borlabs, Complianz
- Payments: Stripe, PayPal
- Hosting and protection: Cloudflare, Vercel, Netlify, Amazon, Google
What is it good for?
You are planning a new website. You really like a particular website? See what it was built with and use that as inspiration for your own project.
You are taking over an existing website. Before you hire an agency or get started yourself, you’ll know which system you are dealing with.
You are checking out the competition. Which online store platform does your competitor use? Which analytics and advertising tools are they running?
You are checking privacy. One look shows whether a website uses Google Analytics or Facebook ads and whether it has a cookie banner.
How the detection works
NetScanner opens the homepage just like your browser would and looks for typical traces. WordPress websites, for example, contain paths like /wp-content/, and Shopify stores load files from cdn.shopify.com. Anything that only loads after a click or a login is not visible to us.
For pros
We also show frameworks and libraries such as Next.js, React, Vue.js or jQuery, the server software (e.g. Nginx or Apache), and we warn you if a server reveals its version number. To see how well a website is protected, use the website security check. To see where it is hosted, use the website hosting checker.
